Congratulations Brody Shaver!

Congratulations to Brody Shaver for being selected for the North Carolina Honors Chorus!

"In total, 548 students auditioned for the North Carolina Elementary Honors Chorus this year. That is the highest number of auditions the committee has seen in a long time! With that large of a number comes a very high cutoff score! After scores from three judges were averaged together, 184 students were selected."

Again, congratulations to North Tiger Brody Shaver! We are proud of you! #TigerPride

Congratulations to Mrs. Elizabeth Galloway, Teacher of the Year!!

Ever heard of a skittle question?! No. Well, me either. Not until, Mrs. Elizabeth Galloway taught a math lesson to a room full of inquisitive 4th graders. I later learned that “skittle” questions are challenge questions that students answer correctly for an opportunity to get a sweet treat- a skittle.

Mrs. Galloway holds high expectations for her students and has the ability to “win them over” within the first few days of school. She engages students with math rap songs and the latest Kid Bop Hits. To an outsider looking in, she makes it look easy to command a room full of energetic 4th grade girls and boys. But, this is no easy task. Mrs. Galloway has a passion that inspires her learners to want to do well and set goals for themselves.

It is no surprise to see her students making blood in a bag for a Heart Unit from Wit and Wisdom or showcasing their written paragraphs in the hallway after completing an end of unit task. These are just a few of the many reasons that Mrs. Galloway deserves this honor. She continues to be reflective of her craft and seeks ways to improve each year. Her performance remains in the top performing educators in Cleveland County Schools. And we are blessed to have her expertise at team North!

Congratulations to Mrs. Hannah Moore, Teacher Assistant of the Year!

Mrs. Hannah Moore is an asset to North Elementary School. She serves primarily in the Title I reading lab working with small groups of students each day to improve students' reading abilities. She follows intervention protocols for reading resources such as Reading Horizons, Heggerty, and Read Naturally. Because she works with small groups of students at a time, she is able to boost students' confidence and celebrate the small wins that make a big difference with their reading progress.

Hannah also assists on Tuesday afternoons with Good News Bible Club. Because this program is held after school, Hannah is able to form bonds with other students who are not served in the reading lab. Her influence with Good News Bible Club helps to improve students moral and overall character development.

Mrs. Moore helps to make North a great place to learn and grow!
